Honest, expert answers about Squarespace, SEO, multilingual setups, and growing your business online. No marketing fluff — just facts.
01. Squarespace vs. The World
Why Squarespace over WordPress?
Security and peace of mind. WordPress is open-source, which makes it a target for malware and requires constant "babysitting" (plugin updates, backups). Squarespace is a closed, premium ecosystem. You get 99.9% uptime, SSL security included, and zero technical maintenance. I choose it because I want you to run a business, not become an amateur IT technician.
Squarespace vs. Shopify: Which is best for E-commerce?
If you sell huge inventories (10,000+ SKUs) and need complex warehousing logic, choose Shopify. For everyone else (boutiques, digital products, service businesses, handmade goods), Squarespace is superior. It offers better design, better blogging tools for SEO, and is significantly cheaper to run while still offering 0% transaction fees on Commerce plans.
Is Squarespace actually good for SEO in 2026?
Absolutely. The "bad SEO" myth is a relic from 2015. Today, Squarespace sites have clean HTML5 markup, automatic sitemaps, and mobile-first indexing. In fact, Squarespace sites often pass Google's Core Web Vitals more easily than bloated WordPress sites. I engineer the technical foundation — you just need to provide the content.
02. Working With Me
Why hire a Pro if I can DIY?
A DIY site is built to "look nice." A professional site is engineered to sell. I bring expertise in SEO architecture, user psychology, and conversion strategy. I ensure your site has the "trust factors" that turn cold visitors into paying clients. You could also cut your own hair — but you go to a professional because the result is worth it.
Do you build multilingual websites?
Yes, this is my speciality (and a common pain point on Squarespace). I build advanced multilingual architectures using Weglot integration or strategic manual setups with hreflang tags. This ensures you rank on Google in multiple languages without being penalised for duplicate content.
Do you offer website maintenance?
I don't charge mandatory monthly fees. Once the site is yours, it's yours. However, for clients who want "peace of mind," I offer Optional Maintenance Packages. I can handle your blog uploads, SEO monitoring, and design tweaks on a monthly basis so you don't have to lift a finger.
03. Pricing & Ownership
How much does a professional website cost?
Because I don't use templates, every project is scoped to your specific business needs. Pricing depends on the number of pages, complexity, and any special functionality like e-commerce or booking systems.

Are there ongoing hidden costs?
Only the platform costs paid directly to providers:
1. Squarespace Subscription: The monthly or annual hosting fee paid directly to Squarespace. As a Circle Gold member, I can get you a 20% discount for the first year.
2. Domain Name: Typically included free for the first year with an annual Squarespace plan.
I do not charge you to "keep the site alive." There are zero hidden fees from me.

Do I own the website completely?
Yes. Unlike some agencies that hold your site hostage, I transfer full ownership to your personal Squarespace account upon final payment. You own the code, the domain, and the content 100%.
04. E-commerce & Technical
Does Squarespace take a cut of my sales?
It depends on your plan. On the cheapest "Business" plan, there is a 3% fee. However, I almost always recommend the Basic Commerce or Advanced Commerce plans, which have 0% transaction fees. This saves you significant money as you scale.
Can I accept local payments (Bank-link / Stripe)?
Yes. Squarespace integrates natively with Stripe and PayPal. Through Stripe, you can accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. For specific local markets, the checkout experience is seamless and secure. UK clients pay in GBP, European clients pay in EUR — Stripe handles the currency automatically.
Will my site be fast on mobile?
Yes. I design with a "Mobile First" philosophy. I optimise all images to next-gen formats, minimise code, and ensure your site scores high on Google's speed tests. A fast site is essential for ranking well and keeping visitors engaged.
